“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast.” — Hebrews 6:19
An anchor does not stop the water moving. It keeps the boat from going where the water wants to take it. That was the whole message.
Being saved was never a promise of no trouble. Jesus told the disciples plainly that in the world they would have tribulation. So the storm is not evidence that God has left — He was in the boat the whole time the disciples were panicking about the weather.
Circumstances shake a person. They do not have to move one, if what is holding him is set in something that does not shift. People will change. Health changes. Bad news comes. Jesus does not change.
It closed in Romans 8 — neither death nor life, nor things present, nor things to come, shall separate us from the love of God.
The church also sent up prayer for members heading off to school this fall.
