“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” — Psalm 27:14
The class was built on a sentence worth keeping: God may not come when you want Him to, but He is always on time.
Waiting requires patience
Psalm 27:14. Patience is hard precisely when the answer matters most — and that is where it does its work, building the faith that the quick answer never would have. A delay is not a denial. Sometimes the wait is the answer, doing something in you that arriving early would have skipped.
God’s timing is perfect
Ecclesiastes 3:1 — to every thing there is a season. We see the part we are standing in. He sees the whole of it. The class also named the harder version of this: some delays are protection, and you may never find out from what.
Waiting requires trust
Isaiah 40:31 — they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength. Not preserve it. Renew it. The waiting is where the strength is restored, not where it drains away.
How to keep going while you wait
The group worked this out together: keep praying. Keep serving. Keep worshiping. Stay in the Word for the encouragement. Stay close to people who will hold you up. And Galatians 6:9 over all of it — be not weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
One thread ran through the whole discussion: impatience does not only make waiting miserable. It pushes people into decisions they would not otherwise make.
